Meet the person who will help you to plan the Alaskan trip of a lifetime.

I decided to start this business to help people experience Alaska the way that locals do - help them to break away from the cruise ships, busses and expensive lodges and see what this beautiful state truly has to offer.

I moved here 13 years ago to work a seasonal job in Denali and fell in love. When my job was done, I decided to try Tahoe, California, for the winter. By May, I was aching and ready to head back. As my mom said, she had never seen me as happy as when I was in Alaska. Because of this, I moved to Girdwood, and made it my home.

I started Travel Like A Local AK because in my travels and work in Alaska, I see so many people following the crowd. They may see Alaska, but they don't really experience Alaska.

One of the most amazing things about Alaska is the people. I have never felt more welcomed than when I moved to Alaska. People here will go out of their way to help you out and never expect anything in return (well - maybe a cold beer). I strongly believe in supporting local businesses, so the majority of accommodations and activities are booked through Alaskan-owned companies.

Another thing I love about Alaska is the fact that I can walk out my backdoor and enjoy nature that is unmatched by most. The vastness of the scenery is humbling and it provides a sense of calm. In all of my travels, Alaska is the only place where I have experienced this feeling. It's a place where you can put your worries behind you and just be you. I want everyone to be able to see Alaska the way that I see it.
